Client: Private commission
This illustration was a commission for a client who wanted it as a gift for her father on Father's Day. The idea to depict him as Superman came from her, and we had a talk about what she wanted in the illustration, the tone, the format and related questions. After this first talks, i sent her a few rough layouts and sketches so we could decide on the direction to go.

The idea to depict him as Superman came from her, and we had a talk about what she wanted in the illustration, the tone, the format and related questions. After this first talks, i sent her a few rough layouts and sketches so we could decide on the direction to go.
After we agreed on a basic layout, it was time to flesh out the idea. She wanted the entire family and the family's pets included in the picture, and she also wanted to print it to send him as a framed artwork to hang on the wall. So we tewaked the format and refined the layout. This was also the point where the dad's look was defined.
After that point, all the decisions about the illustration were pretty much finished. The line work was done, the likenesses of the people and pets were approved by the client, and we went to the coloring part of the process. This was the end result.
