Client: Fabrício Azevedo, journalist, writer and comic book writer from Brasília, Brazil.
The client asked for an image to be used as a cover for the previously edited first book of his Joana series, entitled "The Woman in Black". Originally, the book came out with a cover image provided by the publisher.
The ideas were discussed with the client, taking into consideration the story, the characters and what he wanted to highlight. A few sketches were made, and a couple of them were chosen to narrow down the choices for the cover.
After further discussion, the final image idea was locked in and the execution began. Everything was drawn, refined, finalized and colored, always keeping in mind the spaces for the copy. This was the final image, approved by the client:
